You don’t have to dress the fanciest. Your sneakers don’t have to be the freshest. You can wear the same outfit more than once. I don’t like perfume. Your freshly showered scent is better. I have stretch marks too. You don’t have to apply make-up. You don’t have to try to impress me. All you have to do is be yourself, reveal yourself.

Interviewer: You have mixed blood.
Damian Marley: Yeah I have mixed blood but -
Interviewer: Are you proud about it?
Damian Marley: No.
Interviewer: No?
Damian Marley: No.
Interviewer: Why?
Damian Marley: Why be proud about it? Or why be ashamed? I'm not ashamed, but I'm not proud. Mixed blood - who cares? You exist. So what, so because I have mixed blood am I to be more special than somebody who does not have mixed blood? No! So then it doesn't matter, your blood. Until the colour of a man's skin is of no more significance than the colour of his eye there will be turmoil. So until it don't matter your blood, it don't matter where you come from, it don't matter.. all that matter is that you exist.
